Karen is a native of Baltimore, MD. She graduated from James Madison University with degrees in business and art. She became active in the Northern Virginia arts community in 2000, when her husband retired there after his 20-year Army career. Karen was an exhibiting member of The Loft Gallery in Occoquan from 2001 until 2009 and she has had numerous solo exhibits to include The Historic Manor House at Green Spring Gardens Park and The Vienna Arts Center. In 2008, Karen was sponsored by ExxonMobil and Mrs. Lynda Johnson Robb to paint two of Fairfax Library Foundation’s Art in the Pages open book statues for permanent public display. Karen was a featured artist in the February 2009 issue of élan magazine and recently her painting Ocean Surf was selected as the background for posters to be distributed to secondary schools throughout South Africa during National Science Week.
