Children’s Art Classes - 2010
Teaching Philosophy - FUNdamentals of Fine Art
This is the student’s quality time to explore their inner self. While we strive to gain knowledge and master techniques, the primary focus is self-expression. I designed the course to foster personal growth through experimentation and enjoyment.
I will share my enthusiasm for creating two-dimensional works with the students. I will introduce them to the mediums, styles, techniques, and supports that professional artists use. We will learn and continue to reinforce the basic elements of design and composition. The students will become comfortable with different approaches and will begin to develop their own style.
I strongly encourage students to practice their skills outside of class. Through exercise, they will become familiar with looking at the world through an artist’s eyes. I welcome them to bring their works to class for critique.
At anytime, a student may decide that they want to pursue a particular medium or style; and together, we will develop their own curriculum.
